As I sit down to write this post, I can't help but think of the amazing journey I've experienced through my interviews. Each guest has brought their own unique stories, insights, and experiences. Today, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to all the guests I have had the pleasure of interviewing.
Since launching Left Behind Natives, I have had the immense honor and privilege of sharing conversations with some truly remarkable Native voices — voices that often go unheard, yet carry stories of resilience, culture, history, and hope. Each episode has deepened my understanding and strengthened my commitment to shining a light on the diverse experiences of Native Americans today.
To date, I’ve been fortunate to interview:
Pura Fé — A celebrated Tuscarora singer-songwriter and activist whose music and activism embody Native resilience and creativity.
My Cousin Ruth — More than a cousin, she's a vital voice in our family and community, whose stories and insights have helped shape my understanding of our shared heritage and identity.
Dr. Kenneth Barnett Tankersley — An insightful educator and historian who helped us explore deep Native history and identity with clarity and passion.
Dylan Hays — A proud Lumbee citizen and artist who shared his journey and the rich cultural heritage of the Lumbee Tribe.
Matthew “Maasaw” Howard — A multi-tribal storyteller, author, and spiritual guide whose work connects contemporary Native life with ancestral wisdom.
Seth Penn — A member of the Northeast Tribe of Alabama who shared candid reflections on identity, tribal recognition, and building bridges with other communities.
Michelle Gilmore — Chief of the Southeastern Mvskoke Nation, an inspiring leader whose dedication to her people shines through her stories and work.
Each guest entrusted me with their stories, perspectives, and truths, allowing me to be part of conversations that matter deeply — conversations that challenge stereotypes, dispel ignorance, and foster understanding.
I am truly thankful to every one of them for their generosity, honesty, and courage. Their voices enrich this podcast and remind us why these stories must be heard.
Thank you as well to all the listeners who have joined us along the way. Your support fuels this mission and helps amplify Native voices that have too often been left behind.
Looking Ahead
As I reflect on past interviews, I feel excited about what lies ahead. I look forward to continuing this journey and discovering new guests and stories that will enrich our conversations.
I appreciate the lessons learned and connections made so far. Every new interview presents an opportunity to learn, grow, and inspire, and I am committed to making the most of those chances.
If you haven’t yet, I invite you to explore these episodes and learn more about the rich cultures and histories we discuss. This journey is far from over, and I look forward to bringing you many more conversations with Native voices that deserve to be heard.
